Bats, Kingfishers and Watervoles get their own regeneration plan!

GreenHairstreakC1Bats, Kingfishers, Watervoles and other special species will get their own regeneration proposals with the new Brierley Hill Area Action Plan to be published by Dudley Council on 30th November.

Speaking at a meeting of Brierley Hill Civic Society Nicki Dale, principle planning officer with Dudley Council, described the surprising number special species of wildlife which have been identified in the area.  These include bats, black redstarts, dingy skippers, great crested newts with little legs, green hairstreaks, kingfishers and watervoles. Brierley Hill Area Action Plan timetable

Speaking at a meeting of Brierley Hill Civic Society Nicki Dale, principle planning officer at Dudley Council, set out the time table for adoption of this crucial plan which will guide the physical regeneration of the area.  The draft plan will be published on 30th November 2009 and a period of consultation lasting until 15th January 2010 will follow.  An examination in public of the plan will take place in November next year. Children In Need and Signpost

After the HUGELY successful ‘Pyjama Party’ last year, which raised oodles of money on behalf of Children In Need in 2008, staff and volunteers are continuing the good work in 2009 with new fundraising challenges. This year Signpost bring you our customers, ‘Name the Chicken’ and, ‘Guess the Pudsey’! Come along and join in at 175 High Street, Brierley Hill and contribute your Chicken names or Pudsey choices, Its only 10p or a pound a go! With magnificent prizes for our lucky winners.

Children In Need will take place on 20th November 2009 when our winners will be selected and informed of their Prizes.

Signpost: Credit Union sessions extended

Mandi Ceri will provide Information, Advice and Guidance each Thursday morning 9.30am – 12.30, we are delighted to add this excellent Counselling service to our programme. Each session has both drop – in and appointment based opportunities.

The What Centre provides support on Housing & homelssness, Benefits, Sexual Health, Training & Employment, Legal Rights, Healthy Lifestyle. Inspired by ‘King Bladud’s Pigs’ sculpture trail in Bath 2008 (www. kingbladudspigs.org), the Brierley Hill Arts and Culture Development Group is launching a similar trail in and around Brierley Hill during summer 2010. This will be a huge event for Brierley Hill and will encourage visitors to take a fresh look at the area, encompassing usual and unusual venues and locations – inspiring exploration!
