Brierley Hill Community Forum to consider its future

BrBhcf logoierley Hill Community Forum was set up in 2003 to bring groups and individuals together to engage with the regeneration plans for the area and to add value to the splendid work already being undertaken for the benefit of Brierley Hill.

Some great work was undertaken: local people had a voice in the plans being drawn up for the area; considerable funding was achieved; festivals and award evenings were held; information advice and guidance were given; we even had our own staff for a while.

In recent years, for various reasons, the Forum has become much quieter.
Yet challenges haven’t gone away.  Brierley Hill still has its needs – unemployment is high, the public sector is being cut back, and as much as we love our town, it is in need of some tender loving care.

The directors of the Forum have been meeting recently and considering whether there is still a continued role for it to play.  Various options have been considered.  But the Forum is a membership organisation and it is therefore up to members to decide.

To this end we want to call a general meeting in the week commencing 19th May 2014.

If you are interested in attending the meeting please let me know on tim@sunter.eu  and I will send you details.

Brierley Hill Community Forum – 18th March, 7.30pm – Insight House – all welcome

Brierley Hill Community Forum General Meeting

Monday 18th March 2013, 7.30pm, Insight House, Pearson Street, Brierley Hill

You are cordially invited to the above meeting which aims to bring together people and communities in the wider Brierley Hill area to share information, to develop a vision for the area and to add value to the work of local organisations.
It has been fair to see that the Forum has been going through something of a lull during the last two years.  But there¹s lots of things that need to be done in the area and the Forum offers a legal and charitable structure (with funds!) to improve lives in the locality.
As a first step in revitalizing the Forum the format of the meeting will be a Pot Luck meal.  This is a communal meal, where everyone brings something to share. Join in by bringing something requested by the host, for example an ingredient, a cooked dish, cutlery or help with setting up. If you are able to bring something along please register on the website http://www.potluck.so/tulsehill/meal/#589
If you feel you can¹t bring anything that¹s fine too.  Your  attendance and contribution is the most important  thing we value.
I do hope you will be able to join us on Monday and look forward to seeing you.  Please feel free to pass on the invitation to anyone you think might be interested.

New hope for advice centre?

Partners in Brierley Hill are set to meet to see if a vital advice centre in the town can be revived.

The Signpost shop a multi-agency advice, information and guidance centre in Brierley Hill closed its doors in December despite having over 5000 visitors during its last twelve months of operation.

Now Citizens Advice Bureau Chief Executive and Community Partnership director Caroline Dimbylow is spearheading a working party to try and ensure that local residents continue to get the advice they need. Continue reading New hope for advice centre?
