Holiday Club Update

The holiday club was a major success with 50 children on the books and I think an average of 30 children a day attending the club. The contacts that were made with children and parents were amazing and the example to the school was brilliant and continues our good work alongside Brierley Hill Primary School.

A massive thank you to Steppup puppets and all the volunteers who sacrificed so much time and energy into this great week. We and I’m sure the children will be so grateful!!

Fund Raisers Working Hard for BHP

THANK YOU to everyone who attended or gave (Lots of you contributed to the auction) to the BIG event on Friday night (24th Sept)!! It was a massive success with so many positive stories and comments.
140 people attended the David Lloyd gym in B.Hill for a packed night of dance (Band were excellent), a quiz, mcing from Marcus & FX (BHP Mic check) and a great auction conducted by Ian Robinson!! I would like to thank Lynda Methuen for all her support and hard work to make this night happen, and also Sue Whitehouse who sorted out most of the auction prizes, THANK YOU!!!
So far that night has raised over £3k, so with expenditure we are looking at making £2.5K, thank you all so much what an effort!!

A massive thank you to Jadon and the lads for the football match that they put on as well back in August, they made a massive £1k by all paying to play and a gift from the league, thanks boys!!

Thank you also to Adrian who has completed his bike ride, apart from a sore bum there were no problems and I think Adrian was looking to make about £1.5k!!

Andrea’s on board!

There is restructuring taking place at BHP and part of that is to appoint a new project worker. It is with great pleasure that we can announce to you all that after publishing the job, short listing and then undertaking interviews ANDREA HALL has been appointed as the new project worker to work alongside Stacey and all the volunteers. Andrea has been at the project for over a year now as a full time volunteer so is very much involved already, and will be able to hit the ground running !!! Well done Andrea!!!

Exciting Future for the Cafe

Since the projects open

many people have used our Café, however Unfortunately we’re currently unsure on the future of our little eatery,

however all is not lost! There is a partnership oppotunity on the horizon that could benefit not only the cafe, but

the project as a whole. We’re very excited about this so please, watch this space!

Links with Job Centre…

The Project has agreed with

the Job Centre that we need a better referral process. Hopefully, with this in place we can better support local

people with job searches, CV writing, and food bank.

So we’ve agreed that referrals will be made by phone.

Alison will email everyone in her office to advise them of this and that if they make a referral they need to ask

to speak to Stacey to arrange appointments.
Dont worry though, an appointment isn’t needed you aren’t

refered through the Job centre.
This is an exciting oppotunity and depending on how the service goes there

could be a paid possistion in the Future, keep in mind folks, our main concern is serving the Resisdants of

Brierley Hill.

Another quick few announcements: Afterschool’s club is still running 3.30-5 on Tuesdays and

Thursdays, The Food Bank is still open, and you can collect vouchers from Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), and lastly

anything you want to know give us a call!

Christmas Time, BHP and Wine….

Hello again, December has

been another big month for us! The Christmas Fair went smoothly, we made £421 on the day.
All in all we had 15

stalls, carols and Kato, hot pork sandwiches, Santa’s grotto, story time, an elf and 2 Angels.. All in all a very

exciting event, and a great way to finish the year.

However, that wasn’t the end, we’re open until Christmas

Eve 12pm.

Today meanwhile (22nd December) we’ve had the staff and locals Christmas meal, 30 people came and

enjoyed a Turkey roast meal. We also had chance share more Christmas joy to give 16 hampers out to selected clients

and special guests!

All thats left too say is the Cafe Re-opens and the Cafe is back with a bang on the 5th of

Jan

This year we’ve seen many people and been able to be a blessing to many more. We remain thankful to all our

volunteers and Partners for all the hard work and energy that has made the Project a success, we currently have

over 50 volunteers, and 30 come on a weekly basis.
We’re confident next year will be a massive year for us. So

watch this space.

As ever we’re in need of your support so if you can help in Cleaning, Maintenance or in the

Cafe then give us a ring on 01384 572227

Bread, Bread and Cream Cakes

Many thanks to The Thompson

Bakery, owned by Ivan Thompson, for donating fresh bread to the project twice a week.
Big bags crammed full of

bread are brought in by Daniel Griffths, who walks the bread down from the bakery in the Old Market Hall.

Jackie Drakeley, (pictured) a employee at the bakery was the one to start it all off, we cannot express in words

our gratitude to her for all her effort.

The bread and buns are given to those who are in desperate need

of food and help as part of the Food Bank from The Brierley Hill Project.
