THE Wordsley School is celebrating after being rated “good” by Ofsted.
Previously ranked “satisfactory in 2006, the Brierley Hill Road school was visited by inspectors last month.
They noted many outstanding features and praised the school as “rapidly improving” and “very inclusive” and praising its care, guidance and support as well as its engagement with parents, the behaviour of pupils and how the schoool promotes equality and tackles discrimination.
Headteacher Mike Lambert, whose vision and leadership was also complimented, said: “The entire report is a celebration of what can be achieved when all within a school community work together with a deep felt conviction that we can make a difference to our young people, so they too can pursue their dream.
“This is a belting report, we can go forward with confidence and a renewed self belief that will ensure we become universally accepted as an outstanding school.”
Budding artists and creative fans of hip-hop trio N-Dubz, here is your chance to see your artwork in the limelight and to meet the chart-topping stars at Merry Hill’s exclusive gig this August.

The winning design, chosen by the band members themselves, will be turned into a full colour artwork and its designer will be treated to a VIP package, including backstage passes. It’s a fantastic opportunity for one lucky person, not only to meet the band but to see your design plastered over a backdrop in front of hundreds of fans on the night. So don’t miss out. Get creative with your designs and show us what N-Dubz coming to Merry Hill means to you!
All you need do is create your colour design on one page of A4 (landscape) and send it to N-Dubz Backdrop Competition, Merry Hill Centre Management Suite, Brierley Hill, DY5 1QX or email it to email@example.com along with your name, address, email address and contact telephone number. Terms and conditions apply: All entries must be received by 23rd July 2010.
Hundreds of fans queued for hours to get their book‘Against All Odds – From Street Life to Chart Life’ signed by their idols.
Kelly Reed, Marketing Manager at Merry Hill, said: “We knew it was going to be a big turnout because they are so popular, but even we were taken aback by the crowds. We’ve had some big names at Merry Hill over the years, but N-Dubz seemed to be as popular as anyone else we have seen recently. “It’s great they took the time out to meet fans and there were a lot of happy faces coming away from Waterstones.”

Brierley Hill Musical Theatre BHMTC: Men Wanted for the Full Monty!!!
Brierley Hill Musical Theatre BHMTC's Notes
Men Wanted for the Full Monty!!!Share
Sunday at 22:15
Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company (BHMTC) are seeking two leading Male performers to play the parts of Jerry Lukowski and Noah (Horse) Simmons in the multi award winning musical, The Full Monty. The musical is based on the 1997 Oscar-nominated film about unemployed steel workers who form a male striptease act to raise money. Jerry, (played by Robert Carlyle in the hit movie) is one of the redundant steel workers who, in desperation, considers going ‘the full monty’ in order to raise money to regain custody of his son. Jerry is a high tenor part ideally played by an actor in his 30’s. The part of horse is ideally played by a mature black man; the character dances the funky chicken whist singing his debut song ‘big black man’. The company will perform this hit show at Brierley Hill Civic hall in October, using the set and scenery as used on the professional West End production!
BHMTC would also like to hear from talented male and female performers to audition to join the chorus.
Anyone interested should contact the producer Chris Psaras on 07817 478292 or email firstname.lastname@example.org full details can be found on www.bhmtc.co.uk or find us on Facebook.
